The Ramones were an American rock band from the borough of Queens in New York City.
They were considered the prototype of the punk band, although the term punk only later became popular as a genre term, expressing a British subculture.
The Ramones unintentionally created a new musical genre in the mid-1970s due to their dislike for the rock music produced at the time, in the era of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.
Their music was inspired by a few role models such as The Who, the Kinks, the Beach Boys, the Stooges, MC5, and American rock 'n' roll of the 1950s.
